Mutlag, US ambassador discuss implications of political, security situations in Iraq
Baghdad (NINA) – Deputy Prime Minister Salih Al Mutlag discussed with the American ambassador to Iraq, James Jeffery, and with the American forces in Iraq commander, Gen. Lloyd Austin, today “relations between Iraq and US and the implication of the political and security situations in Iraq as the US forces start withdraw from Iraq.”
A statement issued by Mutlag’s office said that Mutlag and Jeffery focused on “the readiness of the Iraqi forces and their ability to fill the gap and take charge as well as the importance of accompanying that stage with political stability and passing all disputes among the parliamentary blocs and to name the security ministers.”
For his part, the American ambassador renewed his country’s support to Iraq to succeed the democratic experiment and to abide by the security agreement between both countries.
