Basra government threatens to close Safwan border point in case Kuwait insists on building Port Mubarak
Basra (NINA) – Basra local government threatened to close Safwan border point with Kuwait in case Kuwait insisted on building Port Mubarak.
Chairman of Basra Provincial Council, Sabah Al Bazouni told NINA “the local government finds that it has a national responsibility that obliges it to preserve the supreme interests of Iraqis.”
He added “the Basra government will adopt a number of measures in case Kuwait insisted on building the port in its current location, one of these procedures will be closing Safwan border point.”
