Brisbane homes hit after two mains burst

SYDNEY (AAP)-10.09.2011-Repair crews have fixed one of two major water mains that burst on Friday, but full water supply won't return to affected Brisbane suburbs until Sunday morning.
Thousands of residents in Brisbane's inner north have been restricted at best to severe rationing for more than 24 hours.
Workers have begun refilling a nearby reservoir but the catchment won't be full until Sunday morning, a Queensland Urban Utilities statement said.
About 12,500 homes in the upmarket suburbs of Clayfield, Ascot and Hamilton and surrounding Eagle Farm, Pinkenba and Albion were affected when the trunk pipes, measuring 90cm and 60cm in diameter, burst.
The leak caused some low-level local flooding.
Urban Utilities has been giving out bottled water but is urging householders to use water only for essentials.
