Thai authority sets up panel to protect consumers

BANGKOK, September 10 (TNA) - Thailand's Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) will soon set up a special committee to handle complaints from local consumers and push forward relevant laws on the establishment of an independent organisation for the protection of consumers.
Minister Attached to the Prime Minister's Office Surawit Khonsomboon said he has instructed the OCPB to cooperate with the Royal Thai Police and the local press to take their joint pro-active roles in protecting consumers.
Surawit revealed that the OCPB has also been urged to expedite implementing the Thai Cabinet’s recent resolution on the promulgation of the new laws to materialize the independent consumer protection agency.
In addition, the Prime Minister’s Office minister has instructed the OCPB to launch campaigns on making local consumers beware of their eligible rights. (TNA)
