Thai government revenue exceeds target in August

BANGKOK, September 10 (TNA) - The Thai government’s total revenue exceeded its target in August 2011 by over 52 billion baht; while its accumulated revenue during the first 11 months of the 2011 fiscal year, which ends on September 30, 2011, has already surpassed its target by over 200 billion baht.

Director-General of the Thai Ministry of Finance's Fiscal Policy Office (FPO) Naris Chaiyasutr said that the government’s net revenue stood at 301 billion baht last month, exceeding its target by 52.6 billion baht or by 21.2 per cent.

The FPO chief acknowledged that the Thai government's total revenue last month increased by 18.7 per cent year-on-year due mainly to soaring corporate income tax payments after the local private sector had concluded its mid-year financial statements, and that the collected corporate income tax surpassed its target last month by as much as 49.2 billion baht or by 34.6 per cent.
