Thai PM: NSC chief was not unfairly transferred

BANGKOK, September 9 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra denied on Friday that a recent transfer of Thawil Pliensri out of his post as the secretary-general of the National Security Council (NSC) was a persecution, saying that she will appoint Thawil a director for work integration and government policy follow-ups and will have him assist her in security affairs.
In response to criticisms from NSC officials against the transfer of Thawil, Yingluck insisted that she respects everyone’s concerns, and that Thawil's transfer was not persecution and his remuneration package remains intact, acknowledging that Thawil is highly capable; so, she wants him to advise her government on security affairs.
Regarding to the NSC officials’ demand for Thawil’s successor to be an NSC official instead of an outsider, the Thai premier said that she would put the right man on the right job.
Asked by journalists whether she could convince the NSC officials of her decision, Yingluck told the reporters that she could do so by proving that she has treated officials fairly and based her decisions really on work efficiency, and that officials at other government agencies are being transferred as it is now their normal annual transfer season.
