Police seize shotguns in Deniliquin raids
SYDNEY (AAP) - 09 Sept - Police say they have recovered stolen shotguns and other firearms in raids on two homes in the southern NSW town of Deniliquin.
A number of firearms were stolen from a safe at a rural property near Stevens Weir, northwest of Deniliquin, on Wednesday.
A search of one house in the town turned up a rifle, a shotgun, ammunition and some cannabis seeds, police said.
A 21-year-old man was charged on Thursday with a raft of offences including possessing ammunition without a licence and two counts of possessing unregistered firearms.
In a second home, police said they found a sawn-off shotgun, a pump action shotgun, a rifle, ammunition and firearm mechanisms.
They also found one ounce of cannabis leaf.
A 35-year-old man has been charged with possessing a prohibited drug, possession of equipment for administering prohibited drugs, possessing unauthorised firearms and not keeping a firearm safely.
The 21-year-old was refused bail and appeared in Deniliquin Local Court on Thursday.
The 35-year-old was granted strict conditional bail and is due to reappear in Deniliquin Local Court on October 18.
Investigations are continuing.
