INVESTORS KEEN TO MAKE PENANG INTERNATIONAL CITY - CHIEF MINISTER

PENANG (Malaysia), Sept 22 (Bernama) -- Local and foreign investors are keen to assist northern state of Penang to develop it into an international city, said Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

He said as such the state government would create a conducive business
atmosphere for them.

"We are keen to make Penang a world class city loved by investors," he told
reporters after receiving Sime Darby Berhad president and chief executive
officer Ahmad Zubir Murshid here Monday.

Lim said they discussed on investment potentials and Penang's development
drive and Sime Darby was interested to invest in the state.

Plans are afoot to further develop Tun Abdul Razak (Komtar) Complex and
Pulau Jerejak, he said, adding that, "an announcement will be made on several
new projects this week."

Zubir said the meeting was a follow-up to Sime Darby's plan to invest in
the agriculture, development and tourism projects in the state.
