Jakarta, Sept. 22 (ANTARA) - The House of Representatives (DPR)'s Commission III in charge of legal and security affairs, at Parliament Building here on Monday, conducted a fit-and-proper test on Commissioner General Bambang Hendarso Danuri who has been nominated by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono as the next national police chief.

During the test, led by Commission III Chairman Trimedya Panjaitan, some 26 legislators registered themselves for a turn to pose questions to Danuri.
According to Trimedya, the result of the test would be submitted to the DPR's Consultative Body on Tuesday (Sept. 23).
Danuri, who is currently head of the National Police's Criminal Investigation Department, first presented his vision and mission and promised to continue the good programs initiated by outgoing National Police Chief General Sutanto.
He also voiced his commitment to dealing with various criminal cases such as corruption, illegal logging, gambling, and illegal mining.
The police chief candidate also promised to guarantee security during the 2009 general elections and maintain the police's neutral stance.
Meanwhile, Patrialis Akbar, a legislator from the National Mandate Party (PAN), who had the chance to pose the first question, asked Danuri to explain his plan on the police's new paradigm to become a better public servant.
