Sadr Trend advises Barzani to reconsider his stance over the US force stay in Iraq after 2011

Baghdad (NINA) – Official spokesman of the Sadr Trend, Salah Al Obeidi, demanded President of Kurdistan, Masoud Barzani, to reconsider his stance over the stay of the US forces in Iraq after 2011.

A statement issued by the Trand quoted Obeidi as saying “Barzani’s statements unveil change and development in Barzani’s stance; he used to want their stay under any pretext even if it was occupation, now he refuses the occupation justification, but, we cannot accuse him of hypocrisy as he accused the political leader of it.”

Obeidi added “Barzani’s evaluation that the Iraqi security forces are incompetent is far from reality and contradicts the American leaders’ statements.”

He pointed out that “Barzani’s fear from civil war stems from distancing himself from the security and social reality in Iraq,” asking for “declaring the Kurdish stance in this regard and never to favor personal interests over Iraq’s interests.”

Barzani hinted in a conference for KRG’s representations abroad held in Erbil two days ago that the US forces’ withdrawal could open the door for a civil war in Iraq, calling on the central government to sign a new agreement with the Americans to keep their troops.
