Swimming sensation Park resumes training ahead of major competition
SEOUL, Sept. 22 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's gold medal-winning swimmer Park Tae-hwan resumed training Monday as he prepares for a major competition set to begin in his country next month, the swimming governing body here said.
The 19-year-old, who won the gold in the men's 400-meter freestyle at the Beijing
Olympics last month, has had a respite since then, attending ceremonies and
reaping a number of honorary prizes.
Park, who also won the silver medal in the 200m freestyle at the Olympics, is set
to compete in the Oct. 10-16 National Sports Festival, one of South Korea's
biggest sporting events.
Led by his coach, Roh Min-sang, Park has been assigned two teammates as training
partners at the Olympic training center in Seoul, according to the Korea Swimming
Federation.
