Wildfire haze clouds over Songkhla

SONGKHLA, September 8 (TNA) - A new round of haze from forest fires in Indonesia has blanketed Thailand’s southern province of Songkhla.
Updated reports on Thursday afternoon said more haze had settled over the city’s Hat Yai business district, causing poor visibility there.
Chief of Thailand's Meteorological Office on the East-South Coast Wanchai Sakudomchai said up to 120 fire hotspots showed up on satellite images of Indonesia’s Sumatra Island, saying therefore it was likely more haze would be brushed into Thailand by southwest winds.
He said he had instructed officials to monitor the situation around the clock as further actions would be taken if the situation got worse.
The Pollution Control Department meanwhile, reported that the Air Quality Index in Hat Yai District was measured at 66.0 micrograms per cubic meter, with a particulate matter level of 64.9, a reading still considered as safe. (TNA)
