Mutlag demands Turkey to stop its operations inside Iraq

Baghdad (NINA) – Salih Al Mutlag, Deputy Prime Minister, demanded Turkey to stop its military operations inside the Iraqi territories.

A statement issued by Mutlag’s office today mentioned that he discussed with the Turkish ambassador to Iraq, Murad Ozcelik, “the recent developments in the Iraqi-Turkish ties in the political and economic domains and their positive reflections on the two neighborly countries.”

Mutlag stressed the “importance of Turkey’s respect of Iraq’s sovereignty and security and to stop the military operations that harmed Iraqis in Kurdistan and killed some of them.”

He demanded Turkey to “resort to dialogue rather than force,” reminding it, at the same time, of the brotherly and historical ties bonding the two countries.

For his part, the Turkish ambassador renewed his government’s keenness on Iraqis’ lives and the respect of Iraq’s sovereignty and international borders, referring that Turkey looks forward to enhancing relations with Iraq in different domains.
