Barazani: We diligently worked to solve our problems with Iran, Turkey in peaceful means

Erbil (NINA) – Head of Kurdistan region, Massoud Barazani, said that the region diligently worked toward solving the problems with Iran and Turkey in peaceful means and we have made headways, but the situation has recently deteriorated.

In a speech before Kurdistan region’s foreign representatives held in Erbil on Tuesday, Sep. 6, Barazani added, “We believe that problems will not be solved except through understanding and dialogue, we support realizing our peoples’ goal in peacefully.”

He added, “When we talk about the situation with Turkey and Iran, they say that the do not have problems with the region, and they say they respect the region and have no problems with it, all parties have to take special consideration to the situation in Kurdistan region; we in cooperation with President Jalal Talabani continuously seek to solve the problems and put an end to armed conflects.”

As for the situation in Iraq, Barazani asserted the Kurds’ role in Iraq and in forming the federal government, he said, “There are agreements reached between political forces, but we sense a tendency for power appropriation, we do not want problems to remain hanging, especially Article 140; when we accepted to remain with Iraq and accepted the Constitution, we demanded that all problems be solved through the Constitution, especially this Article.”

Barazani stressed that totalitarianism in Iraq has gone; declaring that a delegation from Kurdistan region, headed by the region’s Prime Minister, Barham Saleh, will visit Baghdad to solve these problems.
