GOF TO TAKE OVER SECURITY CONTROL AT FOUR AIRPORTS FROM OCTOBER
KUCHING (Malaysia), Sept 22 (Bernama) -- The General Operations Force (GOF) will take over security control at the country's four international airports from the middle and end of October.

station its members at the Kuching Internatonal Airport and Kota Kinabalu

and Langkawi International Airport at the end of October.
"As had been decided by the cabinet in 2007, GOF will take over security
control at all the country's airports, beginning with the international airports
and then the domestic airports," he told reporters after the breaking of fast at
the Sarawak GOF brigade headquarters, here Sunday.
He said two GOF companies would be stationed at each airport.
GOF had commenced security control at the Kuala Lumpur International
Airport on May 12, and had also been given the task of overseeing security
operations at the CIQ (Customs, Immigration and Quarantine) complexes at the
northern enty/exit points in Peninsular Malaysia.
Hussin said GOF's role was also to coordinate security operations at the
border areas, besides helping other agencies operating at the CIQ complexes to
curb smuggling, cross-border crime and other threats.
"For Sabah and Sarawak, GOF is expected to take over security control at
the Tebedu border post before operating at the other entry/exit points in the
near future," he said.
