Doha's Efforts in Darfur Attracts Arab & International Applause

Cairo ,September 06 (QNA)- The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Sudan Ibrahim Gambari who is also  President of the United Nations forces and the African Union , has highly praised the tireless and strenuous efforts the State of Qatar has been exerting for bringing about peace in Darfur region of Sudan and encouraging all parties concerned there to join the Doha document on the Darfur Peace and enhancing the development process in the region.
   This came in a press remarks Gambari made here following his meeting Tuesday with Arab League Secretary General Dr. Nabil al Arabi .During their meeting ,they talked about the latest developments in Sudan with special emphasis on the situation in Darfur.
  Gambari further said that Doha's efforts towards the peace process in Darfur are running in a constructive and positive way with a view to continue negotiations between the government and the several Darfurian parties since there is no alternative to a peaceful solution for which concerted efforts including the international community must be exerted in this matter, especially since the people of Sudan are all in the north and south of the need for peace.
    The UN official described his meeting with Al Arabi as fruitful and productive during which they reviewed the role of the joint mission of the United Nations and African Union force in Darfur (UNAMID) for peace keeping and stability in the region.
   Gambari further said that he had discussed ways of boosting cooperation with the Arab League to support the peace process in Darfur and end the conflict and accelerate the pace of development there to allow the safe return of displaced people.
   Asked if he had discussed the current crisis between north and south Sudan, Gambari said,'' that concerns us, we have the whole of Sudan in peace''.
Meanwhile the Arab League praised constant efforts exerted by Doha to reunite the Darfurian rival factions and push forward the negotiations for urging all parties concerned to access to and join the Doha document on the Darfur Peace to bring about stability and peace to the region.
   This came in statements Ambassador Salah Halima , the Arab League's envoy to Sudan, who accompanied Gambari during his visit to the arab league.
   Halima pointed out that the Doha peace process on Darfur is systematiccally running noting that what has been reached in the form of a final document on the Darfur Peace have gained appreciation and approval by the entire world community and therefore the current stage is the need to provide an opportunity for other parties to join the aforesaid document.
   In response to a question about whether the collapse of the Libyan regime will support the process of stability in the region, Ambassador Halima said that the Sudanese government attaches great importance to this matter adding that the sudanese government is quite vigilant with regard to securing the border with Libya or any other country.
