Thai Health Ministry intensifies fight against influenza

BANGKOK, September 6 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Public Health is seeking to promote its campaign to ward off flu outbreaks, which are spreading in flood-hit provinces in the north, northeast and central plains.
On Tuesday, Minister of Public Health Witthaya Buranasiri led medical personnel to offer flu vaccinations at Government House for cabinet ministers, government officials and reporters.
Witthaya assured no major epidemic had been reported in the country so far, despite a total of 26,527 flu cases recorded this year during the January-August period, including six fatal cases.
The Public Health Minister said he had ordered provincial health offices nationwide to expedite their work on giving local communities advice on influenza prevention. He also noted that at least 2 million doses of flu vaccines have been distributed since June this year. (TNA)
