Integrity: sentencing commander of rapid intervention force to two years for taking bribes

Baghdad (NINA) – A source in the Integrity Commission announced that a two years sentence was issued against commander of the rapid intervention force after he was convicted with taking bribes.
The source told NINA today that the Rusafa court sentenced Gen. Nu’man Dakhil who surrendered to the Integrity Commission after charging him with taking bribes. The General received orders from the office of the General Commander of the Armed Forces to surrender immediately for investigations when he was caught taking bribes from a contractor. /End/

Peshmirga Ministry denies any Iraqi-US plan to send joint forces to Qandeel Mountain area

Sulaymaniya (NINA) – Peshmirga Ministry’s Secretary General, Gen. Jabbar Yawar, denied any Iraqi-US plan to send joint forces to Qndeel Mountain areas where fighters of Iranian opposition PJAK and Turkish opposition PKK exist.

In a statement to NINA today, Yawar said “there is no agreement to move any forces towards Qandeel Mountain as circulated in some media outlets.”

Iranian and Turkish forces started since last July pounding Qandeel Mountain area, a matter that led to the murder of 9 citizens and the injury of tens in addition to hurting farms and forests. /End/

Turfi: withdrawing confidence from Maliki not an option now

Baghdad (NINA) – MP from the Citizen Bloc, Habeeb Al Turfi, said withdrawing confidence from Prime Minister, Nouri Al Maliki, is not an option, at least now.

In a statement to NINA correspondent today, Turfi said “the political status in Iraq is very sensitive and does not bear any changes of that kind at the time being.”

Turfi explained “that the way some of these political parties act is complicated and faces many challenges internally and externally in a way that affected many sensitive files.”

He continued “the close results of the elections resulted in a kind of sensitivity among the blocs and a political conflict over power,” demanding to put the political process on the right path in order to stabilize security. /End/

Iraq takes part in the Non-Aligned Movement ministerial meeting

Baghdad (NINA) – Foreign Ministry announced that Iraq is taking part in the Non-Aligned Movement meeting due to be held today in the Serbian capital Belgrade.

A statement issued by the ministry mentioned “Hoshiyar Zibari, Minister of Foreign Affairs arrived in Belgrade last night to take part in the meeting which ends tomorrow to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Movement.”

Iraq was one of the 25 countries present at the first meeting of the Movement; the first meeting was held in Belgrade on 1961.

Zibari is due to hold a number of meetings with Serbian officials to discuss means to develop bilateral ties. /End/

Asadi demands the government to intervene before Faw announced afflicted area due to high salt rate in water

Basra (NINA) – MP Hussein Al Asadi demanded the government to intervene and find solutions for the high salt rate in Shat Al Arab water in Faw-southern Basra.

Asadi told NINA “the south of Basra area, especially Faw and Siba are still sufferingfrom the high salt rate in Shat Al Arab which is highly affecting life in agriculture and animals lives domains.”

He added “life in Faw is turning very hard; locals are suffering a lot and it is time now to the government to intervene and find solutions for the high salt rate in water before Faw is announced afflicted area.”
