HH The Emir:The Syrian People Will Not Backtrack on Their Demands

Doha, September 04 (QNA) -HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa al Thani said on Sunday that after the popular protests in Syria which entered a fifth month, it has become clear now that the "killing continued almost daily unabated and that the Syrian people will not backtrack on their demands".
In an interview relayed by Aljazeera television channel, HH said that the question now is "how to emerge from the deadlocked situation in Syria?".
Addressing the position of the State of Qatar towards the Palestinian cause, HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani said we support the Palestinian people in Gaza but Israel is uncomfortable with that. In fact, Israel is considering that the establishment of a Palestinian state is more dangerous than Hamas. "Qatar has supported the Palestinian people in Gaza. Hamas, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and other factions are part of Gaza. They make up the Palestinian people." "It is true that Israel was successful in seeing some Arab countries not supporting the Palestinians in Gaza as it considers those who support the Palestinian people in Gaza as supporters of Hamas. Our position on this is clear."
On the current situation in Libya HH the Emir said " the National Transitional Council has started to wrest control and the rebels have the grip of power, fear has dissipated and it is only now a matter of time. No one is asking the revolution for rapid achievements as we have never seen in the world a revolution with immediate accomplishments. Revolutions usually have throes and we hope the Libyan revolution will not have the same experience of other revolts. It is clear to me now that there is an understanding and serious dialogue between the government and the rebels". (QNA)
