Karna CM ensures stringent action against those found guilty

Bangalore, Sept 21 (PTI) Shaken by the fresh incidents of attack on churches in the state, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa Sunday asked police to take stringent action against the perpetrators.

Yeddyurappa, who chaired a high level meeting to review
the situation soon after four cases of attack on churches
including three in city and another at Kodagu district were
reported since last night, directed top police officials to
fix the responsibility on jurisdictional police in places
where the attacks occurred.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Yeddyurappa
charged that the attacks were an organised conspiracy by those
who did not wish peace to return to the state.

Referring to fresh incidents of violence in the city,
the Chief Minister said certain vested interests were trying
to "vitiate the atmosphere and take mileage."

"Responsibility will be fixed and action will be
taken," state Home Minister V S Acharya said indicating that
the jurisdictional police officials will be held responsible
and suspended.

"We will not take things lightly," Acharya said while
admitting that the city police should have taken policing more
seriously and that police striking squads should have a more
visible presence.

All precautionary measures were being taken, he said.

Following these incidents, the police stepped up
security in the city. PTI JD
