Roast pork festival begins in southern Thailand

TRANG, September 4 (TNA) - Thousands of visitors have attended the opening day of the 22nd Roast Pork Festival in Trang Province to taste its famous iconic food.

Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit presided over the opening ceremony of the festival Sunday morning with participation of over 3,000 government officials, businessmen and visitors.

The festival’s central feature is Trang roast pork. This year, there were over 30 roast pork stalls at the event offering roast pork dishes to visitors at discounted prices.

Roast pork was available for sale at only 380 baht per kilogram, some 40 baht cheaper than the market price of 420 baht. Many stalls were sold out within less than two hours, generating at least 10,000 baht for each trader.

Other activities in the event included a plate-decorating contest, sales of famous local products, and a fancy parade performed by over 2,000 students. (TNA)
