Pork remains expensive in Chiang Rai
CHIANG RAI, September 4 (TNA) - Pork price remains expensive in the Thailand’s northernmost province of Chiang Rai despite the commerce ministry’s announcement on Friday to cap the retail pork price at 145 per kilogram.
Pork in markets in Muang Chiang Rai, Mae Sai and Chiang Saen Districts was reportedly traded at 150-160 baht per kilogram Sunday, which is above the regional ceiling price permitted under the commerce ministry.
Traders said that the wholesale price of live hogs remains high and that the ceiling price set by the Commerce Ministry is too low, adding they will be heavily affected if they have to sell their pork at the set price. (TNA)
