Thailand gears up to be on WB's top-ten Ease of Doing Business list

BANGKOK, September 3 (TNA) - Thailand is developing itself to be among top ten countries on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business rankings.

New Thai Deputy Commerce Minister Siriwat Kajornprasart has discussed the ambitious goal with officials of the Department of Business Development, providing them with policy guidelines focused on empowering local private businesses.

Siriwat said from the current 19th place on the Word Bank’s list, the new Pheu Thai Party-led government will be raising the country's ranking through promoting environmentally-friendly businesses and providing more services to facilitate their business operations.

According to the deputy Thai commerce minister, deregulations will also be carried on to ensure more effective government services with special emphasis on small and medium sized enterprises (SME) to strengthen their competitiveness; while the government will also continue supporting good governance and innovative management tools.
