2011 Qatar International Baja

Doha, September 02 (QNA) - Qatar International Baja event will be held here from November 24 to 26, the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) has confirmed.
The two-day event, which is a candidate event for inclusion in the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies, is open to cars (T1, T2, T3 and Category 2WD) and bikes (450cc, quad, women and open) corresponding to the relevant FIA and FIM homologation criteria.
There will also be a Qatar National Baja running behind the main international event and the QMMF is also introducing a special class for all diesel vehicles.
Speaking to The Peninsula daily, the QMMF President, Nasser Khalifa Al Attiyah, said, "We ran a successful Baja for two seasons before the Asian Games in Doha in 2006 and had to withdraw from the series in 2006 to accommodate the Games."
Entry fees for car competitors using the QMMF's official advertising are QR 1,500, rising to QR3,000 for team entries. Motorcycle fees are QR 1,000 for a single entry and QR 2,000 for a team, but all entry fees will be refunded upon completion of the Qatar International Baja.
Entries officially open in the car category on September 18 close on November 10 for teams and for co-drivers in the car category on November 22. Motorcycle entries must be received by November 10.
Administration checks and scrutiny will be held at the QMMF in Doha on November 23 and 24, while the ceremonial start and opening super special stage proceedings get under way from 08.00hrs at the Sealine Resort on November 25.
Leg-two takes place across the Qatar desert November 26 and the ceremonial finish will draw to a close on at the Sealine Centre from 18.00hrs. (
