Three suspected militants sent to 14 days police custody

New Delhi, Sep 21 (PTI) Three suspected militants allegedly involved in the Delhi serial blasts were Sunday remanded in 14 days police custody by a court here.

Zia-ur-Rehman, Shakir Nishar and Shakil, who were on
the run since the September 13 blasts that rocked the capital,
were arrested by the Delhi police this morning.

The three were produced before Metropolitan Magistrate
Ruby Alka Gupta, who remanded them to police custody till
October five.

During the proceedings, police told the court that
their custodial interrogation was necessary as the
investigators were expected to seize some vital evidence
relating to their role in different serial blasts that rocked
various parts of the country.

The police also informed the court that the accused
were also to be taken to different cities of Uttar Pradesh to
ascertain their role in November serial blasts outside courts
in the state.

In a separate hearing, Abdul Rehman, the arrested
caretaker of infamous L-18 Batla House in Delhi's Jamia Nagar
where the encounter took place on Friday, was sent to 14 days
judicial custody by the court.

The police have slapped charges of cheating and
forgery against Rehman for allegedly providing affidavit with
fake signature of the landlord to Atif alias Bashar, alleged
main man of 'Indian Mujahideen' who carried out September 13
serial blasts and was killed in the encounter with police on
Friday.

All the three accused Zia-ur-Rehman, Shakir Nishar and
Shakil are residents of Azamgarh district in Uttar Pradesh.

The court also asked the police to medically
examine the three accused every 48 hours. PTI ATP
