Education Minister wants universities to develop curricula for national development
BANGKOK, September 2 (TNA) - Thai Education Minister Woravat Au-apinyakul has called on universities to develop their curricula in a way that supports Thailand’s national development and competitiveness in the ASEAN region.
Woravat stated his intention to heads of public and private universities and colleges nationwide on Friday, saying they should produce graduates capable of landing on jobs when the ASEAN Community was formed in 2015.
Woravat also called for the comprehensive introduction of new learning technologies and equipments in each curriculum, particularly for students majoring in agricultural studies, engineering and music. He said the government would be allocating all necessary funds to support them.
Meanwhile, the Education Minister pointed out to a major problem of the Thai higher education system, the privatization of public universities, which he said would lead to managerial flexibility but also result in budget constraints and a rise in tuition fees. (TNA)
