Thai FM to probe secret talks with Cambodia

BANGKOK, September 1 (TNA) - Thai Government Spokeswoman Thitima Chaisaeng said on Thursday that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has assigned newly-appointed Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul to investigate allegedly secret talks on interest in an unsettled area in Thai and Cambodian waters during the previous Abhisit Vejjajiva government.
Thitima told reporters that the prime ministerial order followed a recent report from a Cambodian petroleum agency that there were such negotiations during the tenure of the previous Thai administration.
The new government spokesperson said the prime minister did not set a deadline for the investigation, aimed to protect international relations, but promised that all affairs of her administration would be transparent.
Meanwhile, the Thai government spokeswoman revealed that Premier Yingluck will visit Southeast Asian countries in the near future, but they will be her one-day trips due to her considerable work in office. (TNA)
