Prince Naif patronizes Award ceremony, makes statement

Madinah, Saudi Arabia, September 21, SPA -- Prince Naif bin
Abdulaziz, the Minister of Interior and Chairman of Supreme
Commission of Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud World Award for
Prophet's Sunnah and Contemporary Islamic Studies patronized here
yesterday the closing ceremony of handing over the award in its 3rd
session held by the General Secretariat of the Award.

In a statement following the ceremony, Prince Naif said he felt
happy for meeting a number of Ulema (Islamic scholars) and thinkers
and persons who are concerned with the Islamic affairs.

He noted that the Sunnah is the second source of legislation after
the Holy Quran.

Prince Naif warned against wrong interpretations which lead to the
disunity of the Muslims.

He pointed out to the weakness and backwardness of the Muslims in
the various domains, and warned against the dangerous phenomena like
terrorism, extremism, immorality and bad behavior, and said that all
these were result of keeping away from the proper Islamic creed which
is included in the Holy Quran and Sunnah.

Prince Naif pointed out that the Muslims at the early years of Islam,
when they were sincere in their belief and keen on adherent to the
principles of their religion, they were capable of leading the world
towards virtues, knowledge and human development.
"This took place while other nations were doomed to ignorance and
backwardness," he added.

Prince Naif said the non-Muslims could be excused for failure to
understand Islam and the sources of the Islamic legislation, but the
sons of the Muslims will never be excused if they fail to understand
their religion.
