DPM to visit Cambodia to help two Thai detainees

BANGKOK, September 1 (TNA) - Thai Deputy Prime Minister Police Captain Chalerm Yubumrung said on Thursday that he will soon visit Cambodia to seek ways to assist two Thai nationals, Weera Somkwamkid and Ratree Pipatanapaiboon, who have been jailed in the neighbouring country on charges of spying and intruding onto the Cambodian soil.

Police Captain Chalerm told reporters that he plans to visit Cambodia after Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra returns from her Phnom Penh trip.

Chalerm claimed that his son is a close friend of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen’s son and the Cambodian Navy Deputy Commander’s son.

The new Thai deputy premier said that Cambodian Premier Hun Sen’s secretary has already phoned him for a meal invitation after a Thai parliamentary debate on his new Pheu Thai Party-led government's policy late last month. (TNA)
