Envoy says Saudis not harmed by blast in Islamabad
Islamabad, September 21, SPA -- Saudi ambassador to Pakistan Ali
Assiri said the Saudis, including diplomats, students and others who
are in Pakistan have not been harmed by the explosion which took
place here on Saturday.
As regards the crew of the Saudi Arabia airlines comprising 16
persons, including eight Saudis, who were at the targeted hotel,
Assiri said in a statement to SPA that no death cases took place and
no missing persons were among them.
He noted that six out of them were slightly injured.
"These injured persons include four Saudis, and two ladies - a
Syrian and a Pakistani, " he said.
The ambassador pointed out that the Saudi embassy had mobilized its
potentialities to take the injured persons to the hospital of
'Al-Shifa Al-Dowali', which is considered as the best hospital in
Islamabad, while the others were shifted to Beryl Continental Hotel
in Rwalpindi military city, near Islamabad, and they are in 'good
condition'.
Assiri said he has got assured of the situation of all Saudis
including the students who are on scholarships.
Moreover, he had made contacts with the directors of the Saudi
offices in Pakistan; adding that the Saudi embassy has been advising
the Saudis to avoid appearance at the public places and to take the
required precautions.
The ambassador condemned the criminal act which took place in the
Pakistani capital yesterday, and hoped that Pakistan would enjoy
security and stability.
