Mass media seminar opens at Thai-Lao border

NONGKHAI, August 31 (TNA) - The Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane, together with Saranrom radio station, is holding a seminar for the mass media at the Thai-Lao border to promote exchanges and bilateral ties.

Thai Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Phitsanu Chanwitan chaired the event on Wednesday at the Grand Paradise Hotel in Nongkhai Province’s Muang Nong Khai District.

In his opening statement, Phitsanu hailed the close friendship between the people of Thailand and Laos, which he said, have been nurtured by their common share of land and maritime borders of some 1,810 kilometers in distance.

Commenting on the seminar, Phitsanu said he expects the opportunity to support the role of the mass media in improving relations between Thai and Lao people, particularly radio broadcasters whose programs reach both sides of the border. (TNA)
