STATE HEADS HOLD MEETING
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Paying a state visit, the President of the Republic of Finland Mrs. Tarja Halonen and her counterpart of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj held a meeting on Wednesday, August 31 in the Government House. The Mongolian President has expressed thanks to Mrs. Halonen for visiting Mongolia accepting his invitation, and noted that this visit was a great respect to Mongolians who are celebrating the biggest anniversaries this year.
“Mongolians know well Your prestige and achievements for strengthening the democracy, building transparent governance, ensuring gender equality and protecting environment, and they also know that You are prominent struggler for human rights and freedom,” Ts.Elbegdorj stressed, and said he was satisfied with implementation of talks on development of the bilateral cooperation discussed last year in Helsinki.
In her turn, Mrs. Halonen thanked for a warm audience, and expressed her satisfaction with paying a visit to Mongolia having common valuables of respecting human rights and freedom, strengthening the democracy and cherishing justice.
“The chairmanship of the Community of Democracies has been transferred into Mongolia. It is a respectful responsibility for Mongolia. It proves a good example of Mongolia to build the democracy not only around the region, but also over the world,” Mrs. Halonen stressed. She congratulated Mongolia on gaining achievements in growing its economy, strengthening human rights and reducing negative effectives caused by climate change.
The President Ts.Elbegdorj mentioned he created an initiative on education of democracy together with his counterparts of some countries, sharing views on founding a related group, and asked the Finn President to join this initiative. Mrs. Halonen fully supported this initiative, underling it would contribute to attracting the world's countries to the education of democracy.
The State Heads exchanged views on the Mongolia-Finland relations and cooperation including the collaboration in saving and breeding reindeers. Mrs. Halonen also interested in participation of Mongolian women in decision making level.
