Thai Muslims celebrate Hari Raya festival
NARATHIWAT, August 31 (TNA) - Muslims in southern Thailand are celebrating their second day of the Hari Raya festival to mark the end of Ramadan.
Thousands of Muslim tourists, including from Malaysia, continued to crowd into Narathiwat Province on Wednesday.
Many had reunited with their family members to pay respect to the elderly, as well as to their ancestral burial grounds.
With tourist figures numbering in thousands, local shops said they expected at least 10 million baht to change hands per day this week.
Meanwhile, police, soldiers and security volunteers had been stationed at key tourist sites to ensure maximum safety. (TNA)
