Mottaki: Iran seeks to promote ties with African states

Tehran, Sept 21, IRNA - Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Saturday that Iran's foreign policy is based on promotion of ties with African states and "We are determined to make use of all potentials to this end."

According to the Information and Press Bureau of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, Mottaki made the remark in a meeting with Ghana's
Foreign Minister Akwasi Osei Adjei who is in New York to attend the
annual meeting of UN General Assembly.

Referring to Iran's invaluable experience in oil sector, Mottaki
voiced Iran's readiness to broaden cooperation in this field with Ghana.

The Ghanaian foreign minister, for his part, welcomed expansion of
relations and cooperation with Iran mainly in energy sector and said
Iran is regarded as an important country in the region and "We are to
broaden all out ties with it."
