HH the Emir Performs Eid Al Fitr Prayer

Doha, August 30 (QNA) - HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani performed Eid Al Fitr prayer on Tuesday morning at Al Wajbah praying ground with his loyal and faithful people.
HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and HH the Emir's Personal Representative Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani also joined the Eid Al Fitr prayer.
A number of Their Excellencies Sheikhs and the ministers also joined the prayer.
Reverent Sheikh Dr Thaqeel Sayyer Al-Shammari, the Judge at the Court of Cassation, who is also member of the Supreme Judicial Council, led the Eid Al Fitr prayer and delivered the Eid sermon in which he thanked Allah the Almighty for the blessings bestowed upon Muslims as they were able to complete the fasting of the holy month of fasting of Ramadan.
Sheikh Sayyer Al-Shammari meatime urged Muslims to take advantage of fasting to purify and breeding the soul and seize the occasion of Eid Al Fitr to exert a great deal of worshipping and more good deeds, and to maintain ties of kinship.
He called upon on Muslims to cleanse their hearts of envy and hatred as these are sources of disunity and differences, and urged them as well to follow the true teachings of Islam in all walks of their life.
Masses of worshippers performed Eid al-Fitr prayer in mosques and praying grounds across the country. (QNA)

HH the Emir Receives Eid Al Fitr Well-Wishers

Doha, August 30 (QNA) - HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani received at al Wajbah Palace on Tuesday morning , the first day of Eid al-Fitr ,the well-wishers on such a happy and blessed occasion .
Immediately after Eid prayer, HH the Emir received Their Excellencies sheikhs, the ministers, the Advisory Council speaker, the undersecretaries, the Advisory Council members and the citizens.
Then HH the Emir received the heads of the diplomatic missions accredited to Qatar.
HH the Emir also received officers of the armed forces and the police and the directors of departments and national corporations.
The well-wishers expressed their profound felicitations to HH the Emir on such a happy occasion asking Allah the Almighty to for a happy recurrence of such a blessed and happy occasion on our beloved and dear people and the Arab and Islamic nations while they enjoy blessings, goodness and grace.
The Eid al Fitr receptions were attended by HH Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani , HH the Emir's Personal Representative Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani , HH the Special Advisor to the Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani and a number of Their Excellecies the sons of HH the Emir . Celebrating Eid Al Fitr Tuesday

Doha, August 30 (QNA) - The English language daily The Peninsula has editorially congratulated the Muslims all over islamic nation for the happy and blessed occasion of of Eid al-Fitr and said,'' The world’s Muslims are celebrating Eid Al Fitr today and tomorrow. After a month of fasting, prayers and communal bonhomie, Eid Al Fitr comes as a day of celebration, when people enjoy with their families and friends the completion of a month of blessings and joy. Pious Muslims try to carry forward the spiritual bliss they achieved during the holy month into the following months and prepare themselves to face the rough and tumble of life peacefully. It is like a new beginning, a new life.
That is the spiritual and religious part. On the social front, Eid Al Fitr is on occasion to connect with one’s friends and relatives and reinforce relationships, and at a global level, to revive the community spirit. For this reason, Eid Al Fitr becomes an occasion to take stock of the social, political and economic milieu of Muslims.
This is a special Eid for Muslims, especially Arabs. The Arab political landscape has undergone drastic changes in the last one year and these changes will have a significant impact on their celebrations. Muslims in Libya, Tunisia and Egypt will celebrate the day with more joy, fervour, and peace at having achieved something which they could never have dreamt of just a year ago.
It is an Eid that comes with a new freedom and a sense of achievement and fulfillment. They have overthrown through popular uprisings three dictators who ruled them with iron fists but this joy is being tempered with both fear and hope; fear about what the future holds for them in the face of the realisation that the outcome of the revolution hasn’t been as rosy as they expected, and hope that the future can only be better having put behind them the tyrannies of their rulers.
For people in Syria, Yemen and other Arab countries where the revolution is in an advanced stage or infancy, this Eid Al Fitr is one of hope rather than complete celebration. Especially Syrians will celebrate the day in the midst of a revolution, with the memory of hundreds of their friends and relatives who have been killed in the revolution As President Bashar Al Assad continues to unleash terror against his own people, other Arabs will send out their prayers to them.
Libyans have just emerged victorious in their battle against a maverick dictator. Muammar Gaddafi, his family and cronies will certainly miss this Eid. They are fleeing for their lives, with the rebels in hot pursuit, and in the coming days will be made to repent and pay for the atrocities they have committed.
