Thai cabinet allocates over Bt8 billion for flood-impacted farmers
BANGKOK, August 30 (TNA) - The Thai cabinet on Tuesday allocated over 8 billion baht to help flood-impacted farmers across the country.
Government spokesperson Thitima Chaisaeng said the assistance will go to farmers who registered for compensation since May 1 this year.
The aid package, with a total funding of some 8,174 million baht, will provide compensation at 2,222 baht per rai, or some 1,600 square metres of damaged farmland, an upward revision from some 606 baht per rai earlier, and covering livestock and fishery sectors as well.
Thitima noted that farmers seeking compensation can now contact their respective provincial offices to file their claims. (TNA)
