Alleged Ivy beating caught on CCTV
The alleged basement beating of a young patron inside the Ivy nightclub was recorded by cameras installed at the premises, court documents show.
Police also allege that cleaners sent to the crime scene immediately after the assault on 19-year-old Nicholas Barsoum were captured in the same CCTV footage.
Ivy security guard and cage fighter Emmanouil Ntaras, a 30-year-old Greek national, was granted bail with strict conditions including a $300,000 bond in Sydney's Central Local Court on Tuesday.
Fellow security guard Jason Mendelow, 24, has previously been granted bail and will appear in court at a later date, while a third security guard has been granted police bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on September 22.
Police allege Mr Barsoum was among a group involved in a fight with Ivy security staff about 1.30am (AEST) on Sunday at the nightclub's rear entrance, off George Street in Sydney's CBD.
The police statement of facts tendered to the court on Tuesday says Mr Barsoum was restrained face down on the street with his hands behind his back and assaulted.
A witness dialled triple-zero before Mr Barsoum was taken into the club and down to the basement level.
Police say he was repeatedly beaten and was still on the premises when officers arrived at the Ivy.
"Police were not informed of Barsoum, who was being held in the basement, and police believe they were deliberately diverted," the court document states.
Police also say the alleged basement beating was captured by CCTV and so were cleaners who were allegedly sent to the basement.
Mr Barsoum suffered a number of serious wounds to his face, head and torso and was taken by paramedics to St Vincent's Hospital.
