HOUSE READY TO SUPPORT RP13 TRILLION ALLOCATION FOR RAILWAY COMPANY

Cirebon, West Java, Sept 20 (ANTARA) - Commission V of the House of Representatives which deals with transportation affairs will support a plan to provide Rp13 trillion for state-owned railway company PT KA to renovate its old facilities in order to provide safe mass transportation services for the people, a spokesman said. Commission V chairman Ahamd Moquwam said.
"The funds needed to improve PT KA's infrastructure and facilities amount to Rp13 trillion based on the government's calculations and we will support it in accordance with its master plan, of course it will be provided over a period of several budget years," Ahmad Moquwam, the commission's chairman, said after inspecting the Cirebon railway station here on Saturday.
He said that the budget given to PT KA so far was less than the needed funds so that its projects were done in a patch-up way, just to prevent any disturbance in the services.
The same opinion was also raised by other member of Commission V, Enggartiasto Lukita who said that PT KA must produce a master plan immediately, for a period of 20 years for example, with a clear budget.
He said that with a clear budget, the House could discuss it, including the stages of its allocation so that in the future there would be no longer a patch-up project with the PT KA.
