S. Korea, Sri Lanka FMs to hold talks in Seoul
SEOUL, Aug. 30 (Yonhap) -- The foreign ministers of South Korea and Sri Lanka will hold talks in Seoul this week to discuss increasing cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, officials said Tuesday.
Sri Lanka's External Affairs Minister Gamini Peiris will arrive in Seoul on Wednesday for a three-day visit and meet his South Korean counterpart Kim Sung-hwan early Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Cho Byung-jae told reporters.
"The two ministers will hold talks to enhance cooperation in development projects, increase bilateral trade and discuss a work permit system for Sri Lankan workers here," Cho said.
During his visit, Peiris will also meet with South Korean Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik and other senior officials, the spokesman said.
The two nations established diplomatic relations in 1977.
Meanwhile, immediately after the talks with Peiris early Thursday, Foreign Minister Kim will fly to Paris to attend an international gathering of top diplomats to discuss the future of Libya, ministry officials said.
