Chief of Staff Opens Standard Operation Protector Meeting

Doha, August 29 (QNA) - HE the Qatari Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah opened today at Sheraton Doha Hotel meeting of the chiefs of staff of the allied states' Standard Operation Protector (Odyssey) in Libya .
In an inaugural speech HE the Chief of Staff conveyed the welcome and greetings of HH the Emir and Commander in Chief Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, HH the Heir Apparent and Deputy Commander in Chief Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to participants wishing them a happy stay and success in their meetings.
In his speech Major General Al Attiyah said the situation and the current developments in the field in Libya had made it inevitable for all like the allied states to work in parallel with the events taking place in Libya on the ground so that the appropriate support would be provided to the brotherly Libyan people at the right time and place.
HE Major General Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah stressed that the security in Libya is not limited to the elimination of rogue and outlawed pockets , but there are other libyan requirements that make it incumbent on all of us to work together to perform , namely to secure all of its (Libya's) maritime and land boundary against any illegal breakthroughs or illegal migration to and from Libya .
The chief of the qatari armed forces urged in this context all parties and everyone to work together to develop plans to fill these gaps and work side by side with the brothers in Libya at all levels.
Concluding his inaugural speech, HE Maj.Gen. Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah voiced hope the meeting would come out of positive results and recommendations that could serve our shared commitment to what is going on in Libya, taking into account all the military requirements and security for the current phase and the next stages.(QNA)
