Maliki receives UN representative to Iraq

Baghdad (NINA) – Prime Minister, Nouri Al Maliki received today UN Secretary General’s special representative Ad Melkert on the expiry of his term of office.

Maliki thanked Melkert, according to Maliki’s office statement, for the efforts he made in Iraq and said “your work is a base for anyone that will come after you.”

For his part, Melkert, renewed the UN’s support to Iraq to reach to solutions to all problems regarding the UN’s conduct, especially regarding the Ashraf Camp residents and the necessity of implementing the Cabinet decision regarding the expel of Ashraf Camp out of Iraq by end of this year.
Melkert asked Maliki to visit the UN HQ in New York and said “a lot of progress and achievements were achieved in Iraq,” pointing out to the need of reviewing them. /End/
