Thai Muslims prepare for Hari Raya festival
BANGKOK, August 27 (TNA) - Muslim residents in Thailand are rushing on to south-bound trains and buses to return home in time to celebrate the Hari Raya festival on August 30.
Large inbound travelling were reported throughout Saturday in Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat provinces, as Thai Muslims returned home to prepare for the end of their month of fasting.
At Hat Yai railway station, all 14 trains comprising local and long-distance routes from Bangkok to the three southern border provinces were fully booked. Passengers also crowded the Hat Yai bus terminal until late afternoon.
There were no shortages of train and bus services reported despite the rising number of travellers. (TNA)
