S. Korea suffers sharp downgrade in IT competitiveness: report

SEOUL, Sept. 21 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's ranking in terms of its IT sector's
global competitiveness declined five notches, falling to the 8th spot this year,
a report said Sunday.
According to the report, compiled by the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU), the
United States retained its its top ranking, followed by Taiwan, the United
Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, Canada, and Australia.
The EIU, a research affiliate for The Economist, an influential British business
magazine, assessed 66 countries' levels of infrastructure, regulations, and human
resources in the IT sector.
Japan, which ranked second last year, saw its ranking fall to 12th, while France
and China came in at 20th and 50th respectively, the report showed.
