Thai PM introduces policies to chiefs of government offices
BANGKOK, August 26 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Friday introduced her policies to heads of government offices, including permanent secretaries of ministries, provincial governors and armed forces chiefs.
Yingluck delivered the government policies she has already presented to the Thai Parliament, including such urgent policies as national reconciliation campaigns and rehabilitation for people, government officials and business operators affected by past political protests, as well as victims of the country's southern violence.
Yingluck promised to support the work of the Truth for Reconciliation Commission of Thailand and the independence of a constitution-drafting assembly to be elected by local people. The first female Thai premier said that the process of constitutional amendments could start within the first year of her government.
The Puea Thai premier, who is the youngest sister of exiled ex-Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, also promised to increase income and financial opportunities for people through raising the country's minimum daily wage to 300 baht and the minimum monthly salary of local graduates to 15,000 baht, as well as reducing petrol prices and cutting corporate income tax.
The 28th Thai prime minister acknowledged that she also intends to implement seven policies in four years, including campaigns to promote the revered Thai monarchy and the Royal Thai Armed Forces and the eradication of illicit drugs and crimes, the promotion of Thailand's investment in production, service and agricultural sectors and people’s careers by improving education for Thai children so that they can compete with children of other Southeast Asia nations.
Yingluck said her government will also solve the problems of water and forests systematically, produce more scientists and researchers, promote relations with other countries, promote Thailand as a regional leader in Southeast Asia, upgrade personnel, instruments and services and adhere to the rule of laws, good governance and transparency.(TNA)
