Thai FM not worried over impeachment attempt
BANGKOK, August 26 (TNA) - New Thai Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul said on Friday that he is not worried over the opposition's impeachment attempt against him, noting that the Japanese government has the right to grant a special entry visa to exiled ex-Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
As the main opposition Democrat Party has filed the impeachment with the National Anti-Corruption Commission or NACC, Surapong told reporters that the Democrat Party has the right to do so, claiming, however, that the opposition should do political affairs constructively; otherwise, it could bore people and block national reconciliation.
The new Thai foreign minister said he did not have any evidence to prove his innocence, but he insisted that he does not have the authority to request Tokyo to approve the special entry permit for Thaksin.
The newly-appointed Thai foreign minister also denied any acknowledgment on reports that Thaksin will be visiting
