Thailand's flood death toll rises to nearly 50

BANGKOK, August 26 (TNA) - Thailand's flood death toll has risen to nearly 50, after the Noc-ten storm triggered widespread floods late last month with more than 30 provinces having been affected.

The Thai Ministry of Interior's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported that the country's flood-related fatalities had reached 46 people as of August 25, with one more victim still missing; while nearly 950,000 households have been affected.

About a dozen provinces have remained flooded, including those in the lower northern, eastern and central regions, as well as some areas in the South, as local authorities have issued warnings for people in low-lying zones and other areas at risk to remain on alert for possible flash floods and landslides.(TNA)
