ALL JAPAN COOPORATION MEETING IN JAKARTA

Jakarta, Sept 19 (ANTARA) - For increased relations between Japan and Indonesia, the All Japan cooperation commission held a meeting at the Japanese Embassy here two days ago.

Fifteen Japanese from every regency in Indonesia were invited to represent 10 thousand Japanese citizens in Indonesia. Most of the Japanese are employed, and some are studying, they are happy living in Indonesia.

Japan investment in the automotive industry in Indonesia has increased to USD 830 million in the January-May 2008 period, compared to last year's USD 620 million, besides in the iron, energy, cosmetics industry.

"The increased investment is the result of good consumption in Indonesia," the new ambassador who arrived in Jakarta on May 18, 2008 said.

He said that the Japanese government and its private businesses are trying to enhance the investment climate. He also received positive reports in the two days meeting such as more transparent taxation system and more practical customs processes and a fewer obstacles.

Despite the past dark history between Indonesia and Japan (Japanese occupation of Indonesia), Koijiro said that the current Indonesia-Japan relations is a good model of international relations throughout the world.

"Life is like a boat ride, to move forward we have to row. We must learn from the past to achieve a better future" he said.

When questioned on the Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda's resignation, he said it would not affect the Indonesian-Japan relations, whoever the Japanese prime minister, the bilateral relations would not be affected.
