UB MAYOR RECEIVES JAPANESE DELEGATIONS
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ G.Monkhbayar, the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar city has received representatives of Japan led by Yuko Hattory, a member of Tokyo parliament who came to Mongolia to get au fait with Ulaanbaatar city's water supply issue through the channels of the “Oiska Mongol” organization.
Oisca is an international charity organization with the UN status.
At the meeting Japanese guests invited delegations of Ulaanbaatar city to visit Tokyo to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the organization.
Tokyo parliament representatives expressed a willingness to establish sisterhood ties between Tokyo and Ulaanbaatar cities. Shintaro Ishihara, the Mayor of Tokyo city has initiated Asian best cities network. Ulaanbaatar city has a chance to join the network.
The Tokyo representatives had got familiarized with the Water Supply Authority's activities where they expressed their readiness to research Ulaanbaatar city's water supply issues and provide assistance in preparing human resources and technological support.
G.Monkhbayar provided brief information on Ulaanbaatar city where 45 percent of the population live. Therefore water supply issues have become an important issue. Ulaanbaatar is an only city utilizing groundwater. He said "We have aims to plant trees on the water sources. So, we need Japanese state-of-the-art technologies".
