Opposition to follow up new Thai government's policy implementations

BANGKOK, August 24 (TNA) - Thailand's opposition leader Abhisit Vejjajiva said Wednesday that his opposition camp will follow up the new Pheu Thai Party-led government's policy implementations in the wake of the latter's policy presentation to the Parliament this week.
Abhisit told reporters that he considered some policies of the new administration have been clearly explained; while the others need to be followed up during the implementation process, namely those on maintaining a key part of the existing Criminal Code on lese majeste penalty and on putting political amnesty on hold.
The former Thai premier of the previous Democrat Party-led government, however, expressed his concern over some changes in the new administration's minimum wage and salary hike policy from its promises during vote campaigns earlier, saying that he wondered whether the changes would be acceptable to the public.
The former Democrat premier suggested that the new Thai government provide the public with clear timeframes in implementing its major policies, particularly those concerning the national economy, to facilitate and sustain business activities in the country. (TNA)
