Opposition party asks new Thai government to keep promises

BANGKOK, August 23 (TNA) - Thailand's Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva has asked the Pheu Thai Party led-government keep its promises made during the July 3rd election.

Speaking at a parliamentary policy debate session on Tuesday, Abhisit said many policies of the new administration were unclear.

The former Thai premier said he doubted if the government’s 300-baht a day guaranteed pay policy announced at the parliamentary session was the same one as the Pheu Thai Party’s 300-baht a day minimum wage policy.

He also asked if the policy to guarantee the minimum salary of bachelor degree holders at 15,000 baht would be applied to everyone, asking how the policies would be put into action.

Regarding the government’s policy to control retail fuel prices, the Democrat Party leader pointed out that the government only planned to suspend contribution funds to the State Oil Fund, which was different to the Pheu Thai Party’s vote campaign to terminate the Fund. (TNA)
